Flubber science
WebFlubber, also commonly known as slime, is a non-Newtonian fluid, easily made from polyvinyl alcohol –based glues (such as white "school" glue) and borax. It flows under low stresses but breaks under higher stresses and pressures. This combination of fluid-like and solid-like properties makes it a Maxwell fluid. Web“Flubber” is a silicon polymer formed by the chemical interaction of borax, water, and white glue. It is intriguing to children because it seems to have properties of both a solid and a liquid. (A solid has a fixed volume and shape. A liquid has a fixed volume but takes the shape of whatever container it is in, by flowing— View description .)
